Stiltwater and the frogmen
Stiltwater is a town of huts on stilts, and everyone who lives there is a frogman. The frogmen are peaceful swamp folk: they fish, chop, tinker and bask by the fire, and they want nothing to do with the goblins in the reeds. Now and then one travels to another town, so don't be surprised to see a frogman at the forge in Emberfall.
Stiltwater has a waystone, a Bounty Board, a Bank Chest, a Cooking Range and a Crafting Bench, and two merchants:
- Mother Moss: potions, Identify Scrolls and Ashgate Scrolls. "Bog-root heals most things. Mind the rest."
- Grub: a goblin fence selling rings, amulets and gauntlets. "Found it. Honest. Mostly found it."
Monsters
Bog Goblin: quick, weak, and never alone.
Mire Troll: slow, huge, and very hard to kill.
Bog Slime: squelching blobs.
Mire Snapper: slow-moving, but it attacks from a long way off.
Plague Ratman: ratmen that throw from range.
Skilling
- Woodcutting: willow and maple.
- Fishing: salmon.
- Mining: coal.
Lairs
The Drowned Grotto
The Drowned Grotto (level 26). Something enormous is always hungry down there:
Grotmaw the Bloated.
The Rat King's Warren
The Rat King's Warren (level 31). Every rat in Mirefen answers to one crown, and
The Rat King wears it.
Both swamp bosses keep a rune of their own and can drop the
Bog Toad, and in Nightmare they drop the
Sigil of the Mire.
Tips
- Mire Trolls soak up a lot of damage. Kill the goblins around them first.
- Snappers and ratmen fight from range. Keep moving so their shots miss.
- Mithril gear starts turning up around here. Wearing some is one of your objectives.
