Items & Loot

The Bank

Store your spare gear, your materials and your gold in your bank, reachable from any Bank Chest, and carry gold as Gold Pouches.

Your bank

Your bank keeps your spare gear, your materials and your gold safe, with many times the room of your bag. It's the same bank everywhere: put something in at Emberfall and take it out in the Highlands.

Use it for:

  • Gear for another fighting style you're training.
  • Skilling gear (gathering speed, skill XP) you only wear while you work.
  • Good items you're saving to sell, gamble with orbs, or give to a future version of yourself.
  • Materials beyond what you can carry: ore, logs, bars, fish, gems, orbs and the rest.

Using the bank

Stand at a Bank Chest and tap it. You can:

  • Deposit one item, or deposit all to empty your bag in one tap.
  • Withdraw an item back into your bag (you'll need a free slot).
  • While you're at a chest, you can also put an item in the bank straight from your bag.
  • Bank materials: tap a material (in the bank or on you), enter an amount (or tap 1, 10 or 100) and choose Bank or Take, or move it all with Bank all and Take all. Bank materials banks every material you carry in one tap, except food, potions and scrolls, which you'll want out in the field.
  • On a computer, click a material to move all of it across, drag it between the bank and your bag, or right-click it to choose an amount. At a chest you can also drag a material from your bag window onto the bank, or right-click it and choose Bank all.
  • Bank gold: type an amount (or tap a quick amount such as 1K or 10K) and Deposit or Withdraw, or move it all at once with Deposit all and Withdraw all.

Gold in the bank

The gold you carry is your purse. The gold in your bank is kept apart from it:

  • Banked gold takes no bank slot, and there is no limit to how much you can keep.
  • It's the same gold at every Bank Chest, and it goes with you to every region.
  • It is never lost, not even to a player kill in the Wilderness.
  • You can't spend banked gold directly: withdraw it into your purse first. Merchants, the Grand Market and upgrades all take gold from your purse.

Gold Pouches

A Gold Pouch is gold tied up as an item. It sits in a bag slot like a piece of gear, so you can:

  • Carry it, or bank it (it takes a bank slot, like gear).
  • Drop it on the ground and pick it up again. Like any loot, it fades after a couple of minutes, and in the Wilderness anyone can take it after a short while.
  • Trade it: list it on the Grand Market to sell gold for a price, or buy one that someone else listed.
  • Open it at any time to put its gold back in your purse.

There are two ways to make one:

  • At a Bank Chest, enter an amount and choose As pouch: the gold comes out of your bank straight into a pouch in your bag.
  • Anywhere, tap the gold amount at the bottom of your bag, enter an amount and tie it into a pouch from your purse.

One pouch holds up to 10,000,000 gold. You need a free bag slot to make one. Pouches aren't gear: they can't be worn, can't take crafting orbs, and merchants won't buy them (so selling junk or auto-sell never touches them). Your loot filter never hides a pouch on the ground. You can lock a pouch to keep it from being dropped or listed by mistake.

Where the Bank Chests are

  • Emberfall, in the town square.
  • Every region's town: Qadir Oasis, Stiltwater, Hearthguard, Kindlehold and Hollowmere.
  • In your house, once you build a Vault. See Houses.

What the bank holds

The bank has 200 slots. It holds gear (weapons, armour, jewellery and gathering tools), Gold Pouches, materials, and your banked gold:

  • Each piece of gear or Gold Pouch takes one slot.
  • A material slot holds up to 999 of one material. Bank more than that and it spills into another slot: 2,500 Copper Ore takes three slots (999, 999 and the rest). Each slot shows how many it holds.
  • Banked gold takes no slot at all.

Gear and materials share the same slots, so a bank full of gear has no room for a new material (an existing material's last slot can still fill up).

How much you can carry

Your materials (ore, bars, logs, fish, food, gems, bones, runes, potions, scrolls, orbs, keys, sigils and so on) live in your material pouch, and you can carry at most 999 of each one. When you hit the limit:

  • Gathering that material stops, with a message such as "You can't carry more than 999 Copper Ore — bank some". Time away skilling stops adding it too.
  • Picking up takes what fits and leaves the rest on the ground.
  • Crafting won't start (or stops) before it uses up any ingredients if the result wouldn't fit.
  • Buying from a merchant or the Grand Market is refused, or on the market fills only up to the limit. A market buy order can't ask for more than you have room for.
  • Anything you're owed (bounty and achievement rewards, a market order that fills or a sell order you cancel) goes to your bank once you're at the limit, so it's never lost. If even your bank is full, you keep it on you over the limit until you make room.

Bank the rest, sell it, or put it to use.
