The Frozen Hearth
Kindlehold
A hardy mountain town built around its fires. Kindlehold has everything a crafter needs: a waystone, a Bounty Board, a Bank Chest, a Furnace, an Anvil, a Cooking Range and a Crafting Bench. Two merchants trade here:
- Old Rannoch: potions, Identify and Ashgate Scrolls, and amulets. "Keep the fire fed and your boots dry. The rest is luck."
- Kaelda, the Frostwright: magic emberforged weapons, gauntlets, boots and shields. "Rimeiron takes an edge like nothing else. Keeps it cold, too."
Monsters
Rime Ghoul: frozen dead, tough and relentless.
Rimefang Wolf: fast, hard-biting wolves of the snow.
Ashen Yeti: big, slow and punishing.
Rime Wraith: cold spirits that attack from range.
Glacier Troll: towering trolls of the glaciers.
Frostbound Archer: long-range archers that keep their distance.
Skilling
The Highlands bring new top-tier materials:
- Mining:
Rimeiron Ore, plus coal. Smelt rimeiron with coal into
Rimeiron Bar, and smith those into emberforged gear. - Woodcutting:
Frostpine Logs for warbows, staffs and planks. - Fishing:
Raw Icefish, which cooks into
Icefish.
See Smithing, Crafting and Cooking.
The Frozen Hearth
The Frozen Hearth (level 56): the Jarl's great hall, where the last fire froze solid.
Hrimvald, the Rime Jarl holds court there, and guards three lair uniques of his own:
He also keeps a rune of his own. See Runes & Sockets.
World boss
When the glaciers groan,
Skarn, the Glacier Titan is about to tear himself free of the ice somewhere in the Highlands. Everyone in your world is warned a few minutes ahead and anyone can join in. It's built for a group, so bring friends. See World Bosses.
Tips
- Rime Wraiths and Frostbound Archers fight from range, and the Archers outrange almost everything. Use cover, or rush them.
- With every crafting station in town and new materials all around, Kindlehold is a great base for skillers.
