#What Woodcutting does

Woodcutting lets you chop logs from trees. Logs are the raw material of Crafting: bows, staffs, shields, and the planks you build your house with. See Woodcutting for every unlock by level.

#How to chop

Tap a tree. Your hero chops until the tree is felled, then moves on to the next free tree of the same kind nearby. Felled trees grow back after a while. The higher your level above a tree's requirement, the more often each swing yields a log.

#Your hatchet

You chop with the hatchet in your axe slot, under your hero in the Character window (every hero starts with a Bronze Hatchet). Better hatchets chop faster and need more Woodcutting: iron at 10, steel at 20, mithril at 30 and emberforged at 45. Magic and rare hatchets can add extra logs, Woodcutting XP, gems, gold, or logs that come out as planks (if your Crafting is high enough for the plank). You can also smith your own at the Anvil. #Where to chop

• Oak: just north-east of Emberfall.
• Willow: south of Emberfall, over the river, and in Mirefen Swamp.
• Maple: the far south-east corner of the ashlands, and in the Sunscorch Desert, Mirefen Swamp, Cinder Wastes and The Gloamwood.
• Frostpine: the Rimefall Highlands.
• Ghostwood: the The Gloamwood.

#Tips

• Planks are the backbone of every house build, and builders are always buying. Logs and planks sell steadily on the Grand Market.
• +% Gathering Speed on your hatchet or gear makes every chop come around faster.
• The The Whispering Hatchet finds coins with every log and makes the woodcutting pet far more likely.
• Woodcutting is relaxed AFK training. Pick a spot with several trees of the same kind.
• Keep an eye out for the rare Timber Beaver.
