#What Fishing does

Fishing lets you catch raw fish at fishing spots. Cooking turns them into the food that heals you in a fight. Better fish heal more. See Fishing for every unlock by level.

#How to fish

Tap a fishing spot. Your hero fishes until you move away. Fishing spots never run out, which makes Fishing the easiest skill to leave running while you're away.

#Your fishing rod

You fish with the rod in your tool slots, under your hero in the Character window (every hero starts with an Oak Fishing Rod). Better rods fish faster and need more Fishing: willow at 10, maple at 20, mithril-line at 30 and emberline at 45. Magic and rare rods can add extra fish, Fishing XP, gems, gold, or fish that come out cooked (if your Cooking is high enough for the fish). Crafters make rods at the Crafting Bench, all but the mithril-line, which only turns up as loot. See Gathering tools.

#Where to fish

• Shrimp: the river south of Emberfall, toward the west.
• Trout: the river south of Emberfall, a little east of the bridge, and in the Sunscorch Desert.
• Salmon: the river's eastern stretch, and in Mirefen Swamp.
• Icefish: the Rimefall Highlands.
• Gloom eel: the The Gloamwood.

#Tips

• Fish, then cook. Raw fish don't heal. Cooked fish are what the heal button eats.
• Fishing is perfect before logging off: find a spot, start fishing, and close the game. See AFK skilling.
• Good food is always in demand on the Grand Market, especially from players heading into Nightmare.
• The The Drowned Angler's Rod lands extra fish, pulls up gems and sometimes cooks what it catches.
• The River Heron sometimes follows a patient angler home.
