Deleting Your Account
How to delete your hero and account from inside the game, what is erased, what stays, and what to do if you can't open the game.
Deleting your account in the game
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from any device you play on:
- Open Settings.
- Under Account recovery, choose Delete account.
- Read the list of what will be erased.
- Type your hero's name in the box. This makes sure nobody deletes a hero by accident.
- Press Delete forever.
The deletion happens straight away. The game then signs you out and takes you back to the screen where you create a hero.
You need to be connected to delete an account. A hero you play offline is never saved, so there is nothing online to delete (see Play offline).
What is erased
- Your hero: name, appearance, skills, gear, bag, bank and gold.
- Your house, pets, mounts and collection log.
- Your Grand Market listings and orders: they are taken down, and the items and gold in them are erased with the hero. Nothing is returned or paid out. Your trade history is erased too.
- Your places on the hiscores and the Ember Rift boards, and your recent chat messages.
- Anything bought for this hero, such as showcase pets, Remove Ads or Ashenvale Plus.
- Your recovery code. It stops working everywhere and can never open or make a hero again.
- Your blocked players list. Your hero also disappears from other players' block lists.
- Any mute or ban on your hero, and reports other players made about you (they quote your chat, which is erased too).
If you are in a party, you leave it. If you are playing on another device at the same time, that device is signed out too.
What stays, without your hero
A few records belong to other players or to fixing the game, so they stay, but without anything that points to you:
- When you cleared an Ember Rift with others, your party mates keep their result. You are listed as "a departed hero".
- If you were the first to forge a rune word, the rune word stays discovered, credited to "a departed hero".
- Bug reports you sent stay, so the bug can be fixed, with your hero's name removed.
- Reports you made about other players stay, so the moderators can still act on them, with your hero's name removed. The moderators' own log of any action they took on your hero is kept for a while, like all moderation decisions.
- Other players' own trade history may still show your hero's name on a past trade with you.
Your hero's name becomes free again, so a new hero may take it later. They don't get anything of yours.
Subscriptions and purchases
Ashenvale Plus is billed by your app store, not by the game. Deleting your account doesn't cancel it. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account first, or it keeps renewing. The app store also keeps its own record of what you bought.
If you can't open the game
Email support@ashenvale.io with your hero's name, and your recovery code if you still have it, and ask us to delete your account. We may ask for the code to make sure the hero is yours. This also works if your hero is muted or banned and you can't reach Settings. We delete the account for you, exactly as above, and anyone still signed in to it is signed out.
Backups
The game keeps backup copies of saved heroes in case something goes wrong. Backups aren't edited when you delete your account: the copies in them are deleted on their normal schedule, within 30 days. If a backup ever has to be restored, deleted accounts are deleted again straight away. See the Privacy Policy at ashenvale.io/privacy for everything we keep and for how long.
